Those who know me appreciate that I am not overly into ‘cute’ stuff… except for my well-deserved reputation as being a Hello Kitty fanatic.

My apologies for not being around as often as I usually am. I am in the process of editing my second book in The Great Dead North series (editing sucks, btw). I hope to the have the first two books published online and available for purchase next month both as downloads and print on demand. I am presently working on the third book in the series. What I hate most about the digital cameras I’ve used…

Is that there is a one-second delay…

From the time you press the shutter release button…

Until the time the camera takes the shot.

This means that you always capture the moment…

Exactly one second after the one you meant to take!

Very frustrating.

It’s like you’ve had something stolen from you!

Why I Dislike Cats

Don’t get me wrong. I don’t actually hate cats. At one point, I even had four cats.

But my affection for the little fleabags died off a long time ago.

Because cats are evil.

You can’t take it personally. They’re not just evil at you or because of you or even something you did or said.

They’re born evil. They come out of the package that way.

Evil and stupid. Now that is a dangerous combination right there.

They’re not cute or adorable or endearing or sweet or anything like that. At all.

They’re fur-bearing parasites. Feline freeloaders. They should be discouraged at every opportunity.

Stop the madness!

That is all.

The Little Blue Dragon

One of the most exotic and colorful species of sea slug, the blue dragon (Glaucus atlanticus) is small enough to fit in your hand… but we wouldn’t recommend picking it up. Despite its dainty size, this frilly little demon can deliver an agonizing sting.

But Glaucus doesn’t actually secrete its own venom – it collects it from its most common prey: the stinging jellyfish known as the Portuguese Man o’ War. When the blue dragon chows down on the Man o’ War with its serrated teeth, the venomous sacs (known as nematocysts) are not digested, but stored in the dragon’s tentacle-like appendages, where the venom becomes highly concentrated –making it even more dangerous, or in some cases lethal.

The blue dragon’s venom-collecting habits and alien appearance aren’t its only unusual traits; it’s also known for a strange method of feeding, which it does by floating upside down on the ocean surface. Plus it’s a hermaphrodite, possessing both male and female sex organs… so it probably won’t have too much trouble finding a date.
