Haunting Graveyard Images

Perhaps our greatest curse…
09
Is the knowledge of our own mortality.
10
Death…
06
Or rather, the fear of death.
07
Or rather,  “the dread of something after death…
01
The undiscovered country from whose bourn…
02
No traveler returns, puzzles the will…
03
And makes us rather bear those ills we have…
04
Than fly to others that we know not of?
05
Thus conscience does make cowards of us all…”

I’m a LOVER of Old graveyards, The Best graveyard’s in America are the one’s prior to the civil War. The reason for that is their were too many bodies too bury after the War, the gravestone graver’s didn’t have time to do anything fancy, don’t forget every gravestone was done by hand. IT’s a lost art!! I do gravestone Rubbing now, I get the info on graveyard’s in the new England area. I wanted to go to school and learn the old Art, But I only find one in PA. just didn’t have the time. I forgot the name of the school now. We can’t let that ART Disappear it’s our duty too keep it alive. And Please Don’t forget when you do entire a GraveYard show respect. STAND at the gate and ask permission too enter, you’ll know you’ll feel something!!!! I’ll leave you now with a little saying by that great guy SOCRATE’S, “Death may be the greatest of all Human Blessing’s”

Thank you so much for your insightful comments. I’ve only done one gravestone rubbing. It seems like such a rewarding and fulfilling thing to do. I also like your custom of standing at the gate and asking permission. Wonderful! 🙂

Thanks for posting these. I love old graveyards – so beautiful and peaceful. Highgate Cemetery in London is one of the loveliest places to wander. Old tombs and monuments are real works of art.
